Nutmeg continues its outstanding Fall Ball program for girls with this season's programs at Danbury, Greenwich, and Southington. The Fall season starts with the first session on September 9th and the last session concludes on October 21st. Each session is split between 60 minutes of fun skill building drills and 60 minutes of instructed scrimmage.

The program is a comprehensive developmental sequence of drills and activities to build individual and team skills. Beyond the strength of the program itself, is the extraordinary depth and quality of the coaching staff. We have assembled the best teachers of the game from among the top colleges and high schools in the region. We use a low coach to player ratio, 7 v7 games, and a drill station approach to provide the greatest amount of instruction for each session.

Danielle  Skakandi is Director of the Greenwich Women's Program. She grew up on Long Island and played her high school lacrosse at perennial powerhouse Farmingdale.  She moved on to play her college lacrosse at Division I Hofstra University where "her knowledge of the game and presence" made her the anchor of the team's defense.  Her career at Hofstra was capped when she was named as an All American her senior year where she also was captain of the team.

After graduation she returned to her alma mater as Assistant Coach of the Women's Lacrosse team.  This past year she became coach of the Women's Lacrosse team at Cold Spring High School, a Director of Aero Lax Camp and a Director of the Long Island Yellow Jackets.  more program details.

Denna Stachelek Grasso
 Southington

Denna Stachelek Grasso, began her lacrosse career at Mercy High School in Southington where she began the first girls lacrosse program.  She then moved on to Alfred University and the to a stint as Head Coach at Western Connecticut State University.  She returned this past year to her true love of coaching high school lacrosse at Mercy closing the circle and bringing her great enthusiasm for the game and for teaching it to her roots.

We are very pleased that Coach Grasso will lead the Southington Nutmeg Girls Fall Ball program.  As a college head coach she understands the skills and moves necessary to succeed at that level and as a high school coach she has the ability to teach skills that are essential to success in the sport at any level.

She will be assisted by local high school and college players and coaches.

The Danbury Nutmeg Girls Program is directed by Lauren Scott, Head Coach of the Danbury High School Girls Lacrosse Team.

A 1999 Graduate of Fairfield High School, Lauren Scott was a 4-year starter at Western Connecticut State University, elected captain for two of the four seasons. Lauren has been honored on numerous occasions:
2001 - All Newla Conference Defender
2002 - Little East All Conference Midfielder
2003 - Little East All Conference Attack
Holds Scoring Record at Western Connecticut State University

Lauren has directed and worked at numerous summer lacrosse camps over the past 3 years and is a strong advocate of promoting the game of lacrosse to the young girls and women in the area.

Lauren will be entering her third season as Head Coach of the Danbury High School Girl's Varsity Lacrosse Team.

And the game is fun! Our sessions include speed scrimmages with smaller fields and our 7 v 7 format for lots of activity and involvement. We work hard to make drills enjoyable and to create a sense of active participation and achievement at every level.

Tracy Wiener-Provenz serves as Director of Coaching for all Nutmeg Girls Programs.  She is the Coach of the Year in Nassau County on powerhouse Long Island and coach of the state champion runner-up Farmingdale girls lacrosse team this year. She is an enthusiastic personable coach who draws the best from her players with her upbeat encouraging coaching style.

The Coaching Staff of the Connecticut Lightning, a program of Progression Lacrosse, evaluates players during Fall and Winter Ball and players may be offered a chance to join this elite summer tournament team. Please note that Progression Lacrosse is a separate organization from Nutmeg and its programs have fees and conditions of their own.
