Jon Basti
Coach Basti recently was
appointed as the top assistant men's
lacrosse coach at Lafayette College.
For the past three seasons, he
served as an assistant at Fairfield
University in his second stint with
the Stags.
Involved in day-to-day operations
of the program, Basti worked as
assistant offensive coordinator,
while overseeing the face-off men
and game tape breakdown. In 2005,
Fairfield worked to a #15 national
ranking on its way to being the
Great Western Lacrosse League
champions. This past season, the
Stags reached a program-best #12
ranking.
Prior to Fairfield, Basti served
as the head coach at Eastern
Connecticut State University from
2002 to 2004. While directing the
Warriors, Basti posted a 22-9 career
record while winning two Little East
Conference Championships and two
NCAA Tournament berths.
During Basti's first go-around
with the Stags, he helped Fairfield
to a MAAC regular-season
championship, to go along with two
ECAC Tournament crowns. He was also
a member of the 1996 and 1997 MAAC
Championship teams.
He also worked as an assistant
coach at Sacred Heart University,
where he was in charge of face-offs
and the defensive unit from 2000 to
2002.
Basti graduated from Fairfield in
1999 with a double-major, Politics
and History. He also completed work
on minors in Economics and
Communications. He earned his
Master's Degree in Education/Social
Studies, from Fairfield in 2002.
Basti was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
and now lives in Easton, Pa.
